On 04/15/08, the House of Representatives passed by a voice vote the Religious Worker Visa Extension Act of 2008 (H.R.5570), introduced by Representative Lofgren (D-CA). The bill would extend the special immigrant non-minister religious worker visa program until January 1, 2010.
The measure also provides an additional six year extension of the program upon the condition that the Secretary of Homeland Security issue a final regulation to regarding fraud within the program by the end of 2008.
This measure must now proceed to the Senate for further consideration.
