GAO Report: Border Patrol: Checkpoints Contribute to Border Patrol's Mission, but More Consistent Data Collection and Performance Measurement Could Improve Effectiveness

An August 2009 report by the GAO finds that CBP checkpoints have improved CBP’s ability to apprehend undocumented aliens but that lack of management oversight and unclear checkpoint data collection guidance resulted in the overstatement of checkpoint performance results.
